Joint Operations Escalation is set for release on November 16, 2004. Beta testing has gone very well. There is enormous give and take between the developers, programmers and the beta testing community. While I cannot publicly release specific details of the beta test, I can emphasize what many game site reviews are already saying.
This title is going to kick some major ass. This is no "Athena Sword" type expansion, where you are paying top dollar for some poorly optimized maps and a few new weapons. This single expansion pack is adding more maps (25 total are making it into the final product [HEY!! Most full retail games don't even carry 25 maps!]), more weapons, more equipment and armor than any other expansion pack I have ever purchased before.
If JO:E were a standalone game (which it is not, it is a full bread expansion that requires the original JO:TR to play), it could easily be worth every bit of a $49.99 price tag. It seriously would be a value even at that amount.
But it doesn't cost $49.99. It retails for $29.99 US. And it is a complete steal at that amount, if for the rock solid net code alone.
I gave the original game an 8.5 out of 10; with the expansion the game easily reaches 10 status. It really is that fun to play.
