State of the Blog Address

My fellow gamers, I write to you today to announce that I am still alive and kicking. I am still actively gaming as well, however I have taken some time away from blogging so as to enjoy the hundreds of titles that I have access to. This sabbatical of sorts (no actual pay is involved) has been refreshing and at this point I do not have a particular return date in mind.

A watershed moment occurred recently during the Steam Christmas sale (call it whatever you want) where I did not purchase a single game, DLC, or other item. First and foremost I would have to say that I was disappointed in the rather weak discounts offered (I bought Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition in 2012 for $4.99 and this year it was going for $7.99).

Secondly is the sobering self-assessment that I have far too many games to properly enjoy, let alone make detailed blog after-action reports for. The aforementioned AC2 has a total game time of zero minutes (I bought it and never played it). By my rough estimation I would need four years of dedicated game time to complete everything I have (and never once setting foot into PVP multiplayer aspects of any title).

Rest assured I will return to blogging (as well as in-depth AAR’s), but for now I am taking a much deserved break from the grind.
